How can you spot fake reviews on a review site?
Look for a burst of five-star posts on the same days, vague praise that names no detail, and many reviews with matching wording.
The FTC rule bars fake reviews and undisclosed paid ones, and it also covers hiding bad reviews (FTC, Fake reviews rule (2024)). Celebrity names and claims of fame need checking too (FTC, Did a celebrity really endorse that?).
